In the first part of the evening, Alors on danse… ! unfolds as a series of demanding compositions, intertwining amorous chassés-croisés with an affirmed sensuality, offering the dancers the material to express their best selves. Gil Roman dedicates this pleasure of all senses to Patrick Dupond, an iconic artist who embodied it at each of his appearances on stage.
For the second part, the company presents two ballets from Maurice Béjart’s repertoire, among his most emblematic works. First, 7 danses grecques set to the enchanting music of Mikis Theodorakis. Béjart himself described this piece as a tribute to Greece, where borrowings from folklore are both subtle and evocative. The evening concludes with Boléro a ballet created in 1961 on the captivating score by Maurice Ravel. The central role – the Melody – is alternately entrusted to a dancer or a dancer, while the Rhythm is carried by a group of dancers.
