To open the evening, Variations pour une porte et un soupir will come to life on stage. As Maurice Béjart explains: “Seven dancers take the stage to create a ballet where the choreographer has no place. Seven dancers will improvise freely. Only a pre-arranged scheme defines their relationships and assigns them the variations they must dance. This scheme, established in an abstract way for seven numbers, offers us 49 possible combinations since each evening, chance gives the dancers different numbers, thus eliminating any risk of repetition.”
In the second part, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne invites you to travel through the multicultural universe of Maurice Béjart. Four ballets from his repertoire will be presented: Bhakti III, Duo, Dibouk and The Firebird.
