Bolero
In the first part, the company will present Alors on danse… ! in honour of Patrick Dupond, who left us on March 5, 2021. This new creation by Gil Roman features a series of variations based on classical technique, especially pointe work. This demanding sequence of compositions, made for “the pleasure of dancing”, gives the dancers the material to express the best out of themselves.
Two ballets by Maurice Béjart will then be performed. First, 7 danses grecques, with music by Mikis Theodorakis, “a ballet in which Greece, as the Greeks say, is all too present because it doesn’t borrow too much from its folklore…”, he insists. Choreographed in 1983, this little gem of a ballet is set in a graceful setting and requires its performers to master classical technique and solar energy.
Next comes Bolero, on Maurice Ravel’s music. Set to Duska Sifnos by Maurice Béjart in 1961 in Brussels, “The Melody” has always been performed by a dancer of the Béjart Ballet Lausanne. Not always actually… Gil Roman sometimes offers the main role of this epic ballet to great artists friends of the company. So will do the star dancer Roberto Bolle who will dance on the red table seven times. He will perform “The Melody” with the Béjart Ballet Lausanne company for the second time.
