The evening will open with Variations pour une porte et un soupir a fascinating work where, as Maurice Béjart describes it: “Seven dancers enter the stage to create a ballet where the choreographer has no place. Seven dancers will improvise freely. Only a predetermined scheme defines their interactions and assigns them the variations they must perform. This scheme, abstractly designed for seven acts, offers us 49 possible combinations since each night, chance assigns different numbers to the dancers, thus avoiding any risk of repetition.”
In the second part of the evening, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne will take you on a journey through the multicultural universe of the choreographer. The works Bhakti III, Duo, Dibouk and The Firebird, masterpieces from Béjart’s repertoire, will crown this artistic celebration.
