Three years after a previous meeting disrupted by the COVID epidemic, the Béjart Ballet Lausanne returns to the Grange sublime with the piece it created at the time: Basso Continuum, a choreographic piece imagined by Gil Roman for eight dancers and a double bass played by Lausanne composer and musician, Richard Dubugnon. The second ballet on the program of this Carte blanche given to the BBL’s artistic director is Bye bye baby blackbird (2022), by Dutch choreographer Joost Vrouenraets, which is entirely set to Johnny Cash’s songs. And finally, Maurice Béjart joins the party with The Firebird (1970), set to Stravinsky’s music: “the Bird of life and joy, the Phoenix (always) rises from its ashes”…
