The programme opens with Gil Roman’s light-hearted creation Alors on danse…! a sequence of choreographies based on classical technique, in particular pointe work, which has shaped his choreographic research for this ballet. Composed for “the pleasure of dancing”, this sequence of demanding compositions, amorous chassés croisés with an assertive sensuality, offers the dancers the material to express the best of themselves. Gil Roman dedicates this delight of all the senses to Patrick Dupond, an iconic artist who embodied it in every one of his stage appearances.
For the second part, the company presents two ballets from Maurice Béjart’s repertoire: Bhakti III to the traditional Indian music, and 7 danses grecques based on the music of Mikis Theodorakis. “This is a ballet in which Greece – according to the Greeks – is very much present despite borrowing little from its folklore,” explained the creator of the BBL.
