« I am looking forward to this event with the Béjart Ballet Lausanne, which will combine the beauty and the emotion of a famous worldwide dance company to the fight I have been leading fo so many years. »
The Béjart Ballet Lausanne has been a reference in the choreographic world since its creation in 1987. Chosen by Maurice Béjart as his successor, Gil Roman has directed the company and preserved its artistic excellence since the master’s death in 2007.
Maurice Béjart always wanted to bring the world of dance to a wider audience. Gil Roman and his dancers are driven by this same spirit and have performed all over the world. Through his research, creative work and willingness to work with other choreographers, Gil Roman has been maintaining and developing the Béjart Ballet Lausanne repertoire since 2007, while keeping the company’s founder’s work alive.
To commemorate World Environment Day, Gil Roman’s company decided to rally to the defense of the planet by presenting a work made up of ballet excerpts by Maurice Béjart and Gil Roman.
This dance gala will be available on the www.bejart.tv platform from Friday, June 4 to Wednesday, June 9. All the profits will be donated to the GoodPlanet Foundation to support its efforts.
The GoodPlanet Foundation is chaired by Yann Arthus-Bertrand and has been committed to raising awareness about environmental issues since 2005 through informational and field programs. Since its inauguration in 2017, more than 250,000 visitors were able to discover positive ecology in the first venue dedicated to ecology and solidarity at the GoodPlanet Foundation in Paris. The event was dedicated to the linked issues of food sustainability, ocean pollution, ethical fashion and global warming.
All the profits from this charity concert will be used to keep the park and exhibitions accessible for free, and to develop new projects that raise awareness among families about ecology and solidarity.
